I got a free copy of this book and all opinions are my own. If you haven’t heard of Waves of Redemption, you’re in for a great adventure. Here’s a bit more details about the book:

Story: 5/5

Worldview: 5/5

Did I already said this novel was stunning? Aside from the flowing prose and crisp, captivating dialogue, the characters stole the show. I haven’t experienced what Captain Ysa Marie has, but I can feel her brokenness through the pages. She seeks vengeance, but Someone is seeking her, too. Even though I thought Nyle was stuck-up and annoying for the first few chapters, his vicar friend Jasper is a humble, godly man… and he’ll speak the truth even when Nyle wants to be stubborn and rebellious. Jasper definitely rounded out a few of Nyle’s rough edges, but God did all the rest. 🙂

Worldview for this novel was spectacular. When Jasper in the early chapters started preaching something like “Who are you to say who is worthy of redemption?” I knew this book was going to be something amazing. Waves of Redemption did deal with difficult topics, like sexual assault, prostitution, human trafficking, slavery, suicide. But through it all, God was working. God did miracles, both physically and spiritually. I was also amazed at the mention and inclusion of the Holy Spirit and discernment—something that is not often included in Christian books at all.

Despite the tough themes, I can definitely see this being a book I would give my future daughter or something. So she can see that, no matter what, she is worth loving because Christ loves her. So she can see broken souls find redemption and identity in Christ. The power of prayer and gentle witnessing on another person’s life.

So she can understand that God moves the pieces even when we don’t see it. He can take the ugly past and turn it into something beautiful. He did it for me, He did it in the pages of the novel, and He can do it for you, too.

Overall Thoughts

Waves of Redemption is now among my favorite books ever, right there with The Songbird of Hope Hill, The Peasant Queen, and Provenance. There are all books that have beautiful and deep gospel messages that are sure to leave an impact.
