Fragile Designs is the second Christian thriller/mystery I’ve read, and I was hooked!
Fragile Designs by Colleen Coble is an enjoyable read! It follows a twenty-something Carly Harris as she juggles raising her baby, quarrels with her sisters, and the ghosts of her past as she faces the danger that her husband’s killer could now be after her, too.

Ratings for Fragile Designs
Story: 5/5
Worldview: 4/5
I can’t go too much into the story with spoilers, but I’ll say that Coble does a magnificent job weaving suspense and danger with romance and being a parent. A few good plot twists surprised the characters and me too! I was rushing to get to the end, and it was captivating and tearful! Carly’s relationship with her sisters was so authentic and heartbreaking. I loved that Carly wasn’t portrayed as a victim but as someone who also has a character flaw and needs to grow, too.
Worldview is 4. There’s a strong message of faith and trusting God, but that’s about as far as it goes, I guess. I was surprised because Fragile Designs has so much potential. With tense family drama, there could’ve been so much more emphasis on forgiveness and redemption. We only got as deep as trusting God because we need Him.
Overall Thoughts
Overall, I enjoyed it! 4.5 stars. I will consider picking up another book by Colleen Coble!
If you’re interested in reading a mystery, I recommend The Cairo Curse by Pepper Basham or Fatal Witness (with some caveats).
