Christian Author Testimony: Hannah Gaudette

This next author testimony highlight is Hannah Gaudette!

Hannah writes hard-hitting, truth-seeking fiction and fantasy. I love how she not only shares her writing journey but also encourages other writers to keep going, even when things are hard. I also love the humor in her reels and posts, which focus not just on her books but on all-too-relatable experiences, haha.

It was such a pleasure to speak with Hannah and get to know her better in sharing her testimony. Her heart for sharing hope with her readers is abundant, and she’s not afraid to write difficult situations and tackle even more difficult questions.

Have you read one of Hannah’s books? If so, which one’s your favorite? I’m super excited to pick up The Sound of Silence, a dystopian novel centered around a father struggling to save his daughter’s life.

Author Interview

What was it like for you to grow up as a Christian?

“Growing up in a Christian home, for me, meant there was no doubt about God’s existence. There was a constant atmosphere of support and guidance in my faith. However, even with this atmosphere, I did not truly come to a place of “owning” my faith until I was in my early teens. The reality of who I believed in became much more real to me during that time, when both myself and my family were facing various struggles, and that ownership grew through my teens and early twenties.”

What’s the most important thing you’d want younger Christians to know about serving God?

“I want young Christians to know this: Be patient. Be patient with yourself and your growth as a Christian. Accept that there are things you don’t know and you will learn along the way. (Don’t underestimate the value of a mentor in the faith!)

Someday you are going to look back and see the milestones that tested and stretched your faith, and ultimately, made it stronger. Trials will come, and they will be brutal, but God is no stranger to trials. He is in them with you, and if you let Him, He will carry you.”

As a Christian author, what is your goal with writing?

“As an author, my biggest goal is this: To get readers to ask hard questions. I write characters who experience the fire. Sometimes, characters who endure life at its worst. This is for two reasons. First, I want to write characters in whom readers can see themselves and find hope in their own struggles. Second, I want readers to be right there with the characters, asking hard questions and seeking hard for answers.”

What is the most important Godly message you share with your audience?

“Ask hard. Seek hard.

God is not afraid of your doubts. He is not threatened by your questions. You do not jeopardize His love for you when you rage against Him in the pit of your grief and struggle. Read that again.

God is sovereign. He controls all, but He also knows all. Trusting Him will one day put us all in the position of making a choice: Turning away, or accepting that He knows all futures and He has the answers we desperately want to know.

So, those questions you’re afraid to ask? Ask them. Seek answers. You may not get the answer you’re looking for, or in the timing you want it, but there are answers.

And the very essence of faith is accepting that sometimes, the existence of an unknown answer is enough.”
