Poetry can be hit or miss. Either it sings to your soul or makes you flinch with every rhyme–at least, for me. Birdsong here was absolutely a gift and a joy, and I know God will use it to touch many more people’s hearts.
For context, I had the pleasure of picking up Birdsong as a free eARC in exchange for an honest review, but I’m definitely going to order this book to add to my physical bookshelf. Just in case we’re not already familiar with Birdsong, here’s some more info:

I know, I know, how can poetry have a story? Well, Birdsong did it. It is a beautiful reflection of Jesus’s mercy, the struggle with worldly rejection and believing in His unconditional love. The voice of the poems goes through some circumstances, but they never stop looking for God. In the darkest valley, they ask where He is, and on the mountain, they praise His name. I especially loved the call to surrender and the struggle of letting go and trusting Jesus through the pain. Utterly amazing!
Here is my favorite quote:
forgiven that I am, may my song
rise, proclaiming all that You have done
Birdsong by Melody Faith
All in all, even if you’re not a fan of poetry, reading this book was like reading an echo of Psalms. Both comforting and challenging, this collection of poems by Melody Faith has a place in my life. I will absolutely pick up anything else Melody publishes!
