Contemporary Fiction Through a Biblical Lens

A Noble Princess by Saraina Whitney (Cornerstone #5)

If you’re looking for sweet, Christian fiction with deep themes, you’ll love A Noble Princess. I read this book in 2 days, but this is one of those books that I’m going to have to read again. It’s full of struggles faced by real characters, and yet there’s so much humor and hope throughout!

Ratings for A Noble Princess

Story: 5/5

Worldview: 5/5

I usually dislike prologues, but Whitney really set the tone with this one and I loved it. Princess Aurelia is a strong character who carries the weight of the world on her shoulders. She is willing to leave her mother, her home, and lay down her future for a better hope for her kingdom. The fight between love and duty is echoed in her bodyguard, Wilder Beckington. The plot moves at a slower pace, but it really let the themes go deeper.

Worldview is spectacular, and I think this is where the novel really shines. Characters struggle with anger, anxiety, bitterness, and unforgiveness. These aspects are confronted by loving friends and also by Scripture, but there were moments where the author went even deeper and I loved it! The themes of finding your worth in Christ and surrounding not on your past but your future were spectacular. I said it before but this is really the kind of book I need to read again.

Overall Thoughts

This is the first book I’ve read by Saraina but I’ll definitely by picking up anything else she publishes! The story, characters, and themes were stunning and I’ll definitely be thinking about this story for a while.

If you’re interested in other Christian non-magical fantasy retellings, I highly recommend Madisyn Carlin’s books, such as the Redwyn Chronicles. I haven’t read Iron yet, but I will soon!
