We’re back with another round of highlighting awesome Christian authors and their testimonies!
Chaney Hobson is the author of the ongoing Redemption Pirates series, including The Secrets of Avigdor and The Legends of Nesher. I love the creativity of pirates, fantasy, and dinosaurs (yes, dinosaurs, and it’s awesome). Beyond that, I love how her books unabashedly mentions Scripture and salvation through Christ. If you’re looking for an adventurous read with deep themes, you’ll find it in this series!
Aside from her boundless creativity, Chaney herself is such a considerate friend. She’s the only other person I’ve met who has Graves’ disease, and it’s encouraging to be able to pray for each other and believe for God’s healing. I also have no idea how she manages self-publishing while being a mama to three young kiddos, but she’s definitely an inspiration!

Author Interview
1. What was it like for you to grow up as a Christian?
I grew up in a household where we were taught to follow God. There was never a doubt as to the existence of God for me. My grandpa was a pastor and we went to his small town church ever since I was born. When I was five my dad decided to have a career change from being a police officer to a chiropractor. We needed to move away from my hometown so he could go to school. While my dad was in school we learned I had scoliosis and kyphosis. Both conditions cause a lot of pain in my back. What a blessing it was to have my dad be a chiropractor. The definitely was the Lord’s timing. Regular adjustments and stretches were some of the only things that kept the pain down. It was also my mom and dad that led me to fully accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I had always known who God was and believed in Him but it was another thing to fully surrender my life to Him.
2. What’s the most important thing you’d want younger Christians to know about serving God?
Serving God is not the cool thing to do in today’s day and age. It isn’t cool in the world’s eyes to follow a god they can’t see or to obey His rules. The rewards that come from obeying Him are insurmountable but the peace that comes from worshipping your creator is breathtaking. Even when going through pain that no one else but you could understand, it brings you to your knees to realize that God is right there with you to hold your hand, comfort you and to understand what you are going through. With him you’re never alone.
3.As a Chistian author, what is your goal with writing?
My goals with writing are to entertain and to hopefully encourage people in their walk with the Lord. I wouldn’t be who I am today or where I am without God in my life so I want my writing to be pleasing in His eyes. Hopefully everyone who reads my books either learns something or feels encouraged.
4. What is the most important godly message you want to share with your audience?
I believe we need to remember to never be embarrassed to show the light of the Lord. I want people to look at me and not even have to wonder if I’m a believer or not. Through my actions, the way I live my life and through the books I write. Proudly say His name. Joyfully praise Him. On top of that I think It’s important to never forget that no matter the pain we are going through, no matter how deep and agonizing it feels, He knows what we are going through. There’s times that we can feel alone and like no one can understand what we are going through. Thankfully that’s not the case. Even if everyone else may not understand, the important one does. He can comfort you and guide you through the darkest of tunnels. He’s our lighthouse in the storm we call life.
